The latest Home Office Operational Forum took place on Monday 13 January 2014 at City Hall, London. Nichola Carter was invited to attend the meeting in order to provide feedback on the current immigration service and suggest improvements.
During the meeting, the Home Office outlined the top five triggers for enforcement action against Tier 2 sponsors. These are:
- paying employees in cash
- employees working in a different role to that stated on the COS
- failure to perform a suitable resident labour market test
- poor record keeping
- issues surrounding the sponsor’s trading presence.
The Home Office stated that during the last calendar year, 201 Tier 2 sponsors had their licences revoked and 353 had their licences suspended. There has also been a significant increase in visits to sponsors.
It is therefore more important than ever that Tier 2 sponsors review their compliance with the rules and ensure that any weak areas are addressed quickly.
