UKVI has announced that, effective from today, those applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain under the Tier 2 of the Points Based System will have their passports and their Biometric Residence Permits returned before a decision has been made on their ILR application.
The passport return service launched as a pilot in July of last year for applicants in the Tier 2 Intra Company Transfer (ICT) route. UKVI says that the feedback in response to the pilot was positive.
The passport return service will allow Tier 2 (ILR) applicants to have their passport and Biometric Residence Permit returned within 7 – 10 days of their application being created by the Home Office. The return of both documents will allow applicants to travel whilst their application is being considered and this is welcome news to many of our clients who are frequent travelers.
UKVI says that the documents will be returned automatically to applicants.
