We previously highlighted that the UK had introduced in 2014 a new electronic visa waiver (EVV) scheme for visitors from Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
As of 23 May 2016, a new version of the scheme has been introduced allowing applicants to upload a copy of their passport’s biographic data page to ensure that details can be checked for accuracy before travel. The previous scheme relied on the applicant entering their personal information exactly as it appeared on their passport, often leading to errors.
The new EVW also features a more user friendly and simpler set of questions in both English and Arabic.
The EVW scheme allows passport holders from these countries to travel to the UK for a visit of up to 6 months, providing they complete the EVW form at least 48 hours before departure. The scheme has removed the need for most visitors from these countries to apply for a visit visa before travel and with a fee of £15, it is significantly cheaper than a visa application.
