Applicants who use the nationality checking service in order to submit an application for British citizenship now have the opportunity to apply for their British passport at the same time as submitting their citizenship application.
The JCAP service has been developed in partnership with the Home Office and is available through certain local authorities for an additional fee.
If a citizenship application is successful and the applicant attends the citizenship ceremony, their new passport will be dispatched to their home address usually within 20 days thereafter.
Those using this service will benefit from being able to retain their passport and BRP throughout the decision making process which can take up to six months.
