Boris Johnson has taken the UK’s exit from the EU to the next stage following his general election win earlier in December.
The EU (Withdrawal Agreement) Bill (WAB) passed its second reading in the House of Commons, in the week before Christmas, by 358 to 234 votes.
The bill will now move to the committee stage where it will receive further scrutiny. The Government’s intention is that it will become law by the end of January 2020, when the UK is set to leave the EU.
