Sopra Steria appears to have increased, without warning, the cost of a biometric appointment for applicants filing their immigration application from inside the UK.
Sopra Steria operates the UK Visas and Citizenship Service (UKVCAS) from centres around the country. It has updated the UKVCAS website to state that enhanced appointment fees have increased from £60 to £69.99.
Although the website confirms that free appointments are still on offer, the reality is that it is almost impossible for applicants to book these.
Unfortunately this change was made without warning and will undoubtedly cause anxiety amongst many applicants. We understand that a number of organisations have asked the Home Office to look into this unexpected fee hike urgently.
We recommend that those who need to make an in-country application check the UKVCAS website regularly.
