Business and education providers that hold a sponsor licence under the Skilled Worker route will be aware that a number of significant changes to the route will be implemented in April 2024.
The changes include:
- an increase to the minimum salary threshold;
- an increase to the going rate;
- changes to shortage occupations;
- new discounted salary rules.
Employers will also need to be aware that the civil penalty regime for illegal working increased significantly in February 2024.
In addition, employers will need to be aware that their overseas employees who may enter the UK on spouse or partner visas from April 2024 will be subject to an increased minimum income requirement.
